75. चालीस लड़कियां हरे कपड़े पहनकर पहाड़ों पर घूमने लगीं!

ई.1546 में कांधार पर अधिकार करने के बाद हुमायूँ ने काबुल पर भी अधिकार कर लिया। कामरान काबुल को खाली करके ठट्ठा अथवा बक्खर अथवा गजनी चला गया। हुमायूँ ने काबुल में दरबारे-आम का आयोजन करके अपने पुराने अधिकारियों को अवसर दिया कि वे बादशाह की सेवा में फिर से उपस्थित होकर निष्ठा का प्रदर्शन करें।

हुमायूँ ने मिर्जा हिंदाल को अपना विश्वसनीय जानकर उसे गजनी का गवर्नर बना दिया तथा हमीन्दावर एवं तीरी के इलाके उलूक मिर्जा को सौंप दिए। बहुत से मुगल अमीर जो समय-समय पर हुमायूँ से बगावत करके कामरान की तरफ चले गए थे, वे प्रतिदिन बड़ी संख्या में आ-आकर हुमायूँ के समक्ष उपस्थित होते थे और क्षमा-याचना करके हुमायूँ की अधीनता स्वीकार करते थे। हुमायूँ ने उन सभी को बिना किसी संकोच के अपनी सेवा में ले लिया।

कुछ अमीर ऐसे भी थे जिन्होंने हुमायूँ के प्रति बड़े अपराध किए थे, ऐसे लोगों की हिम्मत स्वयं उपस्थित होने के नहीं होती थी। इसलिए वे स्वयं आने की बजाय अपने प्रतिनिधि भिजवाते थे तथा स्वयं उपस्थित न होने के सम्बन्ध में कोई बहाना बताकर क्षमा-याचना करते थे। हुमायूँ ने ऐसे अमीरों के बहाने स्वीकार नहीं किए तथा उनके प्रतिनिधियों से कहा कि तुम्हारे मालिक की बादशाह के प्रति स्वामिभक्ति तभी मानी जाएगी, जब वे स्वयं हमारे हुजूर में हाजिर होंगे।

कुछ दिन बाद ही हुमायूँ ने अकबर का खतना करने के आदेश दिए। इस अवसर पर भव्य समारोह का आयोजन किया गया तथा काबुल से मरियम मकानी अर्थात् हमीदा बानू को भी बुलाया गया। बाबर के खानदान की अन्य समस्त औरतें तो पहले से ही काबुल में मौजूद थीं। अबुल फजल ने लिखा है कि इस अवसर पर ईरान के शाह तहमास्प के राजदूतों ने आकर बादशाह हुमायूँ को विजय की बधाई दी। बादशाह हुमायूँ ईरानी राजदूत मण्डल के अध्यक्ष वलद बेग से बड़ी कृपा-पूर्वक मिला।

मीर सैयद अली भी हुमायूँ की सेवा में हाजिर हुआ। वह अफगानिस्तान एवं बलूचिस्तन में अपनी सम्पत्ति तथा ईमानदारी के लिए प्रसिद्ध था। हुमायूँ ने उस पर बड़ी कृपा दिखाई। बलूचों के बहुत से कबीलों के सरदार बादशाह की सेवा में उपस्थित हुए। हुमायूँ ने बलूचों के एक सरदार जिसका नाम लवंग बलूच था, उसे शाल और मस्तंग (मस्तान) का जागीरदार बना दिया।

चौसा, कन्नौज और बक्खर आदि के युद्धों में जो सेनापति अथवा सैनिक हुमायूँ के लिए लड़ते हुए मारे गए थे, उनकी विधवाओं, आश्रित भाई-बहिनों, वृद्ध माता-पिता एवं अवयस्क संतानों को वेतन, भूमि, नौकरी आदि देकर उनका सम्मान किया गया।

अबुल फजल ने लिखा है कि यादगार नासिर मिर्जा के मन में फिर से दुष्टता उत्पन्न होने लगी। वह मिर्जा अस्करी के धायभाई मुजफ्फर कोका की सलाह सुना करता था। जब ये बातें बादशाह के कानों तक पहुंची तो हुमायूँ ने मुजफ्फर कोका को पकड़कर मरवा दिया और यादगार नासिर मिर्जा को अपने दरबार में बुलाया।

जब यादगार नासिर मिर्जा हुमायूँ के दरबार में उपस्थित हुआ तब हुमायूँ तो चुप रहा किंतु कराचः खाँ ने भरे दरबार में यादगार नासिर मिर्जा को खूब खरी-खोटी सुनाई। इसके बाद बादशाह के आदेश से यादगार नासिर मिर्जा को काबुल के दुर्ग में कैद कर दिया। उसके पास ही मिर्जा अस्करी भी बंदी बनाकर रखा गया था जिसे कांधार विजय के बाद ही बंदी बना लिया गया था और इस समय तक कांधार के दुर्ग से काबुल के दुर्ग में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था।

कुछ दिन बाद नौरोज का त्यौहार मनाया गया। इस अवसर पर तीस-चालीस जवान लड़कियों को हरे कपड़े पहनकर पहाड़ों पर घूमने के आदेश दिए गए। ये लड़कियां कई दिनों तक पहाड़ों पर विचरण करके अपने रूप की छटा बिखेरती रहीं ताकि दूर-दूर तक यह संदेश चला जाए कि बादशाह हुमायूँ के राज्य में हर ओर सुख-शांति है। कुछ समय बाद हुमायूँ को समाचार मिला कि बदख्शां के शासक मिर्जा सुलेमान ने विद्रोह करके स्वयं को बदख्शां तथा कुंदूज का स्वतंत्र शासक घोषित कर दिया है और अपने नाम का खुतबा पढ़वा रहा है। इस पर मार्च 1546 में हुमायूँ ने एक सेना के साथ बदख्शां के लिए प्रस्थान किया। उसने काबुल की सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी मुहम्मद अली तगाई पर छोड़ी।

अबुल फजल ने लिखा है कि हुमायूँ ने मिर्जा अस्करी को इस अभियान के लिए अपने साथ लिया। इससे प्रतीत होता है कि हुमायूँ ने मिर्जा अस्करी को क्षमा करके उसे कैद से मुक्त कर दिया था। अबुल फजल ने यह भी लिखा है कि जब हुमायूँ काबुल नगर से निकलकर कराबाग के निकट पहुंचा तो हुमायूँ को यादगार नासिर मिर्जा की तरफ से आशंका हुई। इसलिए हुमायूँ ने मुहम्मद अली तगाई को आदेश भिजवाया कि वह यादगर नासिर मिर्जा को मार डाले।

इस पर मुहम्मद अली तगाई ने बादशाह को उत्तर भेजा कि मैंने तो कभी एक चिड़िया भी नहीं मारी है, मैं मिर्जा को कैसे मार सकता हूँ। तब हुमायूँ ने यह कार्य मुहम्मद कासिम मंजी को सौंपा। मंजी ने यादगार नासिर मिर्जा के गले पर छुरी फेर दी।

सबसे पहले हुमायूँ ने जफर दुर्ग पर चढ़ाई की। जफर दुर्ग पर बड़ी आसानी से हुमायूँ का अधिकार हो गया। इसके बाद हुमायूँ अंदराब पहुंचा। उधर मिर्जा सुलेमान ने तिरगीरान नामक गांव के पास मोर्चा बांधा। इस पर हुमायूँ ने मिर्जा हिंदाल तथा कराचः खाँ को आगे बढ़कर मिर्जा सुल्तान पर हमला करने के लिए कहा।

दोनों पक्षों में हुए तुमुल संघर्ष के बाद मिर्जा सुलेमान खोस्त की घाटी में भाग गया। उसके पक्ष के बहुत से अमीर भागकर हुमायूँ की शरण में आ गए। इनमें वलद कासिम बेग, मिर्जा बेग बरलास प्रमुख थे। हुमायूँ तथा मिर्जा हिंदाल ने अपने घुड़सवार लेकर मिर्जा सुलेमान का पीछा किया किंतु मिर्जा सुलेमान इनके हाथ नहीं आया। हुमायूँ ने मिर्जा हिंदाल को कुंदूज तथा बदख्शां का गवर्नर बना दिया।

इतिहास घूमकर फिर उसी बिंदु पर आ गया था। ई.1525 में जब बाबर जीवित था, तब हुमायूँ इसी मिर्जा हिंदाल को बदख्शां का गवर्नर बनाकर हिंदुस्तान गया था और आज ई.1546 में हुमायूँ ने एक बार फिर हिंदाल को बदख्शां का गवर्नर बनाया।

हुमायूँ ने कुछ दिन खोस्त की घाटी में शिकार खेलने में बिताए तथा इसके बाद वह किशम दुर्ग पर अधिकार करने पहुंचा। किशम दुर्ग पर हुमायूँ का अधिकार तो हो गया किंतु हुमायूँ किशम में बुरी तरह बीमार हो गया। यहाँ तक कि वह कुछ दिनों तक अचेत पड़ा रहा।
